El Trapo

TOMM EL-SAIEH EL TRAPO

“It’s like a shammy, it’s like a towel, it’s like a sponge.” This commonly used
household material known to many natives of Miami as ‘un trapo’ serves as subject matter
for this exhibition, which includes paintings, sculpture, photography, video and installation.
el Trapo explores the process of appropriation and mass communication while attempting
to critique modern methods of consumption and production.
Tomm El-Saieh was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and now lives and works in Miami,
FL. He studied at New World School of the Arts in Miami, FL.
